Jim Boff: Proudly Serving Forsyth

During my time as Commissioner, I have tried to be as supportive of homeowners as possible.  We are the ones watching property values fall, through no fault of our own.  We should be challenging the counties Fair Market Valuation of each of our properties, I am making sure that zonings keep the quality of our neighborhoods high.

I have tried to keep things as above board as possible and:

Got agreement on a binding water contract to send to the City of Cumming

Voted with staff to choose the right Bank for the county

Voted against increased benefits for elected officials when they leave office

Voted against HUD 108 financing

Found housing for children to visit parents under court supervision for SAAFT http://safftvisitation.org/

Worked to rid Methane Pollution from a subdivision on Melody Mizer Road

I have not voted to raise the county milage rate in the last year and will continue to work to keep taxes low and keep local government as cost effective as I can. There is still much that we are working towards to make even more  improvements that will continue to enhance our quality of life.  I look forward to serving you as we face the challenging times ahead and the issues our county is facing.

We have several important decisions to make in the coming year. As we all know the housing market has caused the tax base to shrink, LOST must be renegotiated, and the water contract is up for renewal this year.  I believe in a fair negotiation, but want to see the value to the county for the money negotiated.

During my service in Forsyth County, I have worked hard to bring a stabilizing

force to the board of Commissioners. My fellow Commissioners have recognized this by honoring me with the vote to be Chairman this year.
