Jail and Courthouse
If you have ever been to the jail complex it will be immediately apparent that we need a new jail/courthouse complex. Ours is too small and fragmented in several decrepit buildings which holds about 125 of the prisoners in a population of about 400. It is not as secure as it should be, because inmates have to be taken out of confinement into the general population if there is a medical situation. The 275 or so inmates not kept there, are housed in south GA. This costs a lot of money, money which could be going to pay off the note on a building. My understanding is that once everything is set up we could keep the prisoners here for half the cost, have better security, more access of the prisoners to court and a much better looking situation.
