In response to the many inquiries received because of candidate Julie Tressler’s written statements regarding Jim Boff, the campaign wishes to make the following statement.

We are in receipt of two post cards sent through the US mail containing one statement that is knowingly untrue and containing an allegation that Jim Boff and Commission Chairman Charles Laughinghouse and Commissioner Jim Harrell conspired to violate and did violate the Hobbs Act by stating that Jim “promised his vote to Charlie Laughinghouse for $600 and to Jim Harrell for $500.’

Commissioners Laughinghouse and Harrell may choose to comment independently; Jim Boff’s comment is as follows:  “My Campaign Contribution Disclosure Report (CCDR) does in fact show that I received small contributions from Jim Harrell and Charlie Laughinghouse.  However at no time did I agree to “offer my vote” to either Jim or Charlie.  Since this matter is beyond the jurisdiction of the State Ethics Committee, and since there is potential of civil action being filed early next week, I shall refrain from further statements at this time, except to ask those working on my campaign to please share this information with as many folks as possible.”

Readers who have further questions are urged to contact Charles Smith, Runoff Campaign Manager for Jim Boff, by email at cismith3@gmail.com.
